5 Daily Habits That Will Keep New Food Truck Owners Sane

  • Getting Enough Sleep Each Night
  • Sticking To A Routine
  • Adding In Some Exercise
  • Finding A Hobby
  • Making Some Room For Downtime

Getting Enough Sleep Each Night

This might sound obvious, but this is the one area where so many people decide to make sacrifices in. So many people are walking zombies, they are sleep deprived. When times get tough and the work starts piling up, it’s easy to make up for lost time by sleeping less. With that said, food truck owners need their beauty sleep.

Not only will you likely be on your feet all day, but you are, once again, going to be logging double-digit hours.Habits

That is why food truck owners need to come up with a sleep schedule, meaning going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every morning. The fresher your mind is, the more focused and alert you will be every day. This tip alone could lead to you being the most productive version of yourself.

Sticking To A Routine

Life is all about making schedules and actually sticking to them. The food truck industry is no different.

Therefore, make your daily routine, and then stick to it. Yes, unexpected things are going to pop up — you are a business owner, after all, which means you have to juggle many different tasks and obstacles — but planning out your days is only going to make your life easier. Not to mention, it will help you be more productive.

Creating a schedule is one of the best things you can do when it comes to achieving more success. It makes each day seem more manageable, and organized. Don’t leave home without one.

Adding In Some Exercise

When you are a business owner, which you are if you own your own lunch truck, one of the best things you can do for your sanity is keeping your mind, body and soul happy and refreshed. Believe it or not, there’s a way to knock out all three of those categories with one punch.

Enter exercise.

Not only will some form of exercise keep you in tip-top shape, but it will also provide you with an opportunity to refresh the mind, to get away from work, even if it’s only for 20 to 30 minutes a day. Food truck owners, do not skip this step!

Finding A Hobby

Before entering the food truck industry, your No. 1 hobby was likely cooking food. If that is still your No. 1 hobby, then that is completely fine. You did join this industry to follow your dreams, to be happy at your job each and every day. However, you are in this for the long run, so finding another hobby, although you might never have as much passion for it as you do for being a chef, is a must.

This hobby could be as simple as, well, going to the gym, reading or playing a sport. It could even be journaling your food truck journey, or starting that novel you have always wanted to write. The choice is yours, but finding a hobby away from work is yet another way to keep the mind and soul refreshed.

Making Some Room For Downtime

While we have kind of already touched on this topic by incorporating a hobby and some form of exercise, people, especially food truck owners, need to call it quits at some point every day.

Downtime alone can lead to you being refreshed every morning, ready to take on the day. One might be wondering what this downtime should consist of. Well, that is completely up to you. It could be watching TV (although we don’t suggest you doing this right before bed, because TV is not a stimulus for sleep, and you don’t want to be tossing and turning in the middle of the night as a result), reading a book, relaxing, getting some quality family time in, etc.

While downtime alone won’t solve all of your problems, it will make your problems easier to manage, because you will actually have time to clear your head, walk away and refresh.
